    I was born & grew up in southeast England and now live in the City of Manchester. I first became interested in photography at the age of eleven in the 1970's & am both self-taught & formally educated. I have had work published in several magazines & books, have worked with an award winning theatre company & my work is in private collections worldwide. I've exhibited in the UK & abroad.

    I am an Islamic artist who creates both traditional and contemporary art. Using Arabic Calligraphy, Islamic architecture and other symbolic imagery I use my art to show the beauty of Islam and address the many misconceptions about Islam.

    My art practice combines paper collage art and illustration with sharing my creative journey as a self-taught artist.     A disabled artist having to experiment using my non dominant hand, I love to capture a feeling or beauty within my art. Charcoal was the very first thing I picked up and I'm venturing from this trying to recycle my "canvas'" and drawing on anything I can find and reuse. I believe my art maintains a stylised appearance on account of the deliberation and consideration having to be factored in.

    Places that exude a sense of past, a public fascia and private interior; where a gap or an interval might pervade their decline or revival, are an ongoing source of enquiry. Familiar but often estranged or transitory, I examine how such sites of heterotopia simultaneously reflect and disturb the spaces that surround them.

    I taught in further and higher art education for 20+years, exhibited widely in UK and Europe, taught freelance on degree courses and now work with groups and individual students. I have an MA ADD from Manchester School of Art. I live and work near woods and water, involved in environmental woodland management and industrial archaeology. I work with drawing, found objects, print and stitch.
