    When I look back over all my work, I can see that my favourite subjects reflect the post-industrial landscape that I have grown up with here in the East Midlands. I am fascinated with buildings that were once thriving manufacturing hubs or houses that have decades of lived history. To me a row of terrace houses has as much to say as a stately home.

    My motivation often comes from the challenge of transforming and exploiting objects then trying to give them new uses. I enjoy keeping the original object recognisable so then it has a dual personality. Many of my projects and products have been interactive, in a residency last year I was able to create larger pieces using rope and objects that people could interactive and play with.

    I am a Nottinghamshire artist working with lost, discarded and found materials to create assemblage sculpture, vignettes, curiosity boxes and mini installation pieces. My current work explores the human experience, the multitude of detritus we leave behind, our impact on the environment and relationships between real and fake, the valuable and the valueless.

    Jun Rui Lo works primarily with the sculptural juxtaposition of diverse materials. Lo highlights the materials’ accumulated traces of usage in their compositions, blending the intimate and peculiar handcrafted elements with them to generate new meanings. Through constructing fragmented allegorical narratives, Lo delves into the ambiguity and ambivalence of gender and cultural identities.

    I am a full time artist, living and working in North Yorkshire. Leaving teaching after 22 years has been a revelation and has allowed me to develop and think about the work I make and connect with others. .My creative practice is autobiographical, telling the stories my life and documenting them in their raw and vulnerable form.     The paintings are an expression of experiencing the natural environments. They are a playful celebration of colour, shapes and a sensory response to the exuberance found in plant life.
