    Originally from Essex I have lived in The North East since 2008 with my daughter who has physical disabilities and emotional issues. I originally did a degree in textiles at Wolverhampton University in the 1990's but studied for an MA in Fine Art in 2020 at Teesside University. I am inspired by the environment around me and the people in it. Exploring mental health, distortions and perceptions.

    I have been involved in producing artwork and in art education for over 35 years. I achieved my degree in ceramic sculpture in 1978 at North Staffordshire Poly, I then moved back to my home in Liverpool and began teaching Art. I moved to Lincolnshire in the 1990s.

    I am a Black British Female Artist based in London. I am a portraitist primarily but, not exclusively. I use various media, including oil, acrylic, inks, pigments and collage. The use of line drawing has always been a strong presence in my work.

    Dawn Hemming is a multi-disciplined textile artist, knitwear designer/maker and fibre processor. She is also a published poet, lyric writer and singer and unpublished novelist.     I am a practising photographic artist and an academic with over forty years experience. I successfully completed a Masters degree with a Distinction, focussing on photography's relationship with memory and its influence on the development of one’s identity.     I am a visual artist working predominantly in painting to explore the shifting landscape and beauty of our surroundings. I believe painting through its textures and relationship to colour acts as a very visceral medium to expose and explore ideas around change. The background colours of the paintings reflect the surrounding landscape and mood.
