    M.Kala was born and raised in Congo, then moved to France where she studied French literature specialising in African narratives at Sorbonne University. She observed similar bonds in craft, as she became increasingly interested in the African art. With jewellery, she realised that she can choose materials according to a space and story-line. She studied fine jewellery at City Lit part-time.

    I am a multidisciplinary artist with an MA Fine Art from Goldsmiths College. I am interested in the juncture between art, medicine, and forensics, informed by my experience as a former medic.     I am an emerging visual artist exploring human experience and connection. Based on the edge of the New Forest, I use this inspirational environment in much of my work. Using narrative, language and visual impact to explore themes such as motherhood, our connection to nature, the body and spirituality, I often draw upon lived experience and work mainly within sculpture, photography and collage.
