Fanny Gogh is a pseudo name for the Manchester based artist Sian Elizabeth. Sian was given the name by a U.K tabloid after she used ladies lingerie in her mixed media painting/collage of a knickerbokaglory ice cream desert in her Beautiful Trash exhibition 2009. Since then the name has stuck as celebrities from all over the world send the fun loving artist their 'smalls'.

Vivid, gestural oil paintings reveal a fascination with emotional states, with the help of unwitting accomplices captured from feature film and TV- their surfaces hint at depths of emotion below. Forever given pause, they comment on emotional entanglement with the artificial as a substitute – or perhaps immunisation against- the fluctuating feelings of everyday life.

Im a mother and a self taught artist. I paint things I find beauty in, I aim to counteract the ridiculous expectations placed on women in our society and how our worth is measured by aesthetics we should conform to, by sending a message of body positivity and empowerment.
