Emma's contemporary oil paintings are a fusion of atmosphere, experiment and memory. She draws upon memories of a time and an emotion to overlay into the overall sense of place, capturing the connectivity and the beauty of nature and its calming influence. She is constantly thinking about colours, contrast and composition and how to create movement and texture in her work.

I am an artist specialising in embroidery, and a qualified teacher, regularly holding workshops in the North of England. However, I am open to expanding my base of workshop locations, and am also seeking a retail/studio space. My work is based within the heading of Folk Art and Arts & Crafts, and I mainly embroider with knitting wool, making it achievable for absolute beginners and beyond.

My visual arts practice derives from a sense of place and community anchored in politics and experiences of a working-class background. Printing offers me the materiality and medium to experiment with images of strength and violence, representing tactile anger in keeping with present times. I make woodcuts, lino and wood engraving, as well as the traditional medium of etching and aquatint.

I am a self taught artist with a long love of cartooning which is evident in my quirky design style and use of bright colours and bold lines. Australian born but now based in North Devon, the dramatic coastline is an important source of my inspiration. I use a variety of printmaking and digital design techniques to create my artwork and surface pattern designs.
