    Sarah-Joy Ford is an Artist, Post Graduate Researcher and Associate Lecturer at Manchester School of Art. Ford works with textiles to explore the complexities and pleasures of queer communities, histories and archives. Her current practice and research explores quilt making as an affective methodology for making re-visioning lesbian archival material.

    I work producing authentic artworks in paintings and textile sculpture. I have exhibited both solo and as a participant, winning awards for innovation, judgrs choice and peoples choice.     I am a sculptor working predominantly in bronze and Cor-ten steel, producing sculptures for both indoor and outdoor settings. I have also produced work for large public sculpture commissions and am available for private commissions. I provide workshops for schools and will shortly be running bronze casting courses with my husband and sculpting partner. In addition I make water features.

    Originally a teacher of dyslexic children, I have recently completed an MA in Fashion Textile Practices at Huddersfield University. I have always been a creative and in 2017 finally took the plunge and did an Art & Design Foundation Diploma which started a love of light and installations.

    I am a textile artist. I work with imagery and themes relating to the cyclical nature of female life and archetypes of the feminine. My interest in the ephemeral nature of life and the feminine is symbolised in the use of flowers and in the cornucopia of harvest, where I use gold as a metaphor for transformation.
