    Rachel is a multi-disciplinary artist working across the mediums of photographic processes, sound recording and performance. Her practice explores our perceptions of sound within environments and how that can be expressed in a visual context. She explores micro level sounds, the physical and material aspects of the body and environment and resonance within analogue instruments.

    I have degrees in environmental science and fine art and an MA in fine art, and won a scholarship in philosophy (International Society for philosophers). I have exhibited and performed internationally - drawings, artists books and vocalisations.

    I am a trained textile and surface pattern designer and have been fortunate to have travelled extensively to which has inspired the majority of my art work. I enjoy working with multimedia and utilising digital technology for the final piece. I am inspired by the combination of colourways in landscapes, nature and abstract imagery.

    I am a London based artist who uses photography, digital manipulation, and sound to create images, video, and installations. Searching beneath the surface by unpacking the layers that we keep secure is a fundamental aspect of my work. Often nostalgic, sometimes beautifully melancholic, I make tender unsettling images drawn from my reflections of human behaviour.

    For over twenty years, my practice as a community artist has centred on participation, storytelling, and collective making.     I am a contemporary painter based in Carshalton. I draw my inspiration from my surroundings, emotions and my travels. I am mostly self-taught but recently completed a foundation in Art & Design course at West Dean College.
