    For over twenty years, my practice as a community artist has centred on participation, storytelling, and collective making.     I’m Elizabeth Benson, a UK-based artist working between textile and sculpture. I explore how cloth, dye and fibre respond to contact, pressure and time, using natural dyes, tannins and iron to create layered works where colour and form emerge through interaction rather than control.

    Working with salvaged ecclesiastical glass, I use historical fragments to construct new paradigms of image‑making. Informed by early Renaissance craft, my practice reconfigures light, fracture and inherited forms for contemporary meaning.

    I am a teacher of Geography and until a few years ago I never thought I had a creative bone in my body. I then discovered wood turning and the joy of shaping wood as if it was clay. I have rapidly moved away from traditional wood turning and like to use a variety of non-traditional wood and different materials that enhance the wood. I like form and shape inspired by nature.

    I have been working as a sculptor and upcycle artist for nearly a decade, turning discarded plastic and found materials into meaningful sculptures that carry my personal reflection. My work is inspired by a deep love for humanity and the sacredness of nature. Using simple symbols like ant to represent land life and fish for aquatic life, their stories speaking to many human truths.
