    My art explores mental health, struggle, healing, and growth, shaped by my psychology background, including a Master’s in Psychology Research and years supporting young people with mental health challenges and special needs. I'm inspired by the intersection of humanity and nature, and transform inner emotions into expressive portraits, vivid abstractions, and unique, deeply human characters.

    Yewbowart (Yvonne Cavens) is a Scottish artist born in Dumfries in 1972. A self-taught creative from a young age, she began drawing horses in oil paints and pastels as a child, developing a deep, intuitive connection with visual storytelling. Her work now blends abstract realism with a touch of whimsy, often inspired by the landscapes, heritage, and spirit of Scotland.

    I am an award winning cross-media artist and filmmaker, having exhibited internationally and worked collaboratively to deliver works that interrogate the role and impact of digital media practice. I work with composer and musician Jake Harries developing 'a little piece of land' as a long term collaborative practice.
