    I am a Scottish artist who studied at The Glasgow School of Art. I work primarily in traditional artistic mediums such as drawing and painting. Photography and digital art is also explored, along with sculpture. Themes of the human condition, emotions, mental health and art as therapy are explored.

    Sarah McAlister graduated with MA Textiles from The University for the Creative Arts in 2024 and focuses her practice on re-using found materials. Her work is made in response to places and events she has experienced. Her ethos as a textile artist is to recycle, re-use and re-purpose existing resources meaning that her pieces are made entirely from found objects and fabrics.

    I make handmade jewellery in silver and 18ct gold and a wide range of precious stones, with textures and patterns drawn from close up images of beetles, their wing cases, articulated legs, antennae and focus sing on their jewel like qualities. My work also finds inspiration from landscapes where I create jewellery, prints and small paintings inspired by the landscapes of Iceland and Sweden.

    My practice explores the relationship between movement, emotion, and texture through the dual mediums of oil paint and clay. Each piece is an intuitive dialogue between control and spontaneity, a balance that mirrors my personal experience of living with dyspraxia, where creativity becomes both expression and grounding.

    Since retirement, I create most days. I also volunteer with Guide Dogs for the Blind, Scotland. We foster lovely pups, giving them a cosy home as they go through their training. In my painting I want to capture the beauty, energy and ruggedness of the land and and sea. With textiles....I just to go with the flow.

    Sue is a contemporary yorkshire based artist, gaining a Diploma in Fine Art and Crafts at Leeds College of Art, and a BA Honours Degree in Art and Design at Bradford College In 1997. Since then participating in various open exhibition and group shows. Primarily Sue uses oil paint, to draw out intangible moments from specific memories. Layers of impasto being a striking feature.

I attended various Art schools including, the open College of Arts, Buckinghamshire New University and Leith School of Art, Edinburgh. I took early retirement in order to pursue my passion for making and exploring the arts
