    I have degrees in environmental science and fine art and an MA in fine art, and won a scholarship in philosophy (International Society for philosophers). I have exhibited and performed internationally - drawings, artists books and vocalisations.

    My ceramic sculptures possess a strong voice and, and a bold narrative about contrast, visual drama and playfulness. They are visually and haptically exciting. I have an MA in ceramics, and exhibit my work in the UK and abroad. My work has been shortlisted for a number of national and international prizes, and is held in public and private collections in the UK, USA and Italy .

    Sue Dewhurst is a narrative painter whose work explores ordinary lives, overlooked people and changing communities through humour, social observation and nostalgia. Drawing on Northern working-class roots and her life in rural West Wales, she combines character, place and storytelling to examine memory, belonging and the social histories hidden in the everyday.

    Joanne is a visual artist whose creative journey began in photography but flourished into painting. While formally trained in photography, she is a self-taught painter who embraces acrylics and mixed media to convey emotion through expressive and dynamic compositions.     Working with clay has always been my passion and escape. I graduated with a BEd Hons majoring in art and ceramics and taught for many years. Following early retirement I work in my studio in Hexham, Northumberland where I make small scale ceramic sculpture based on my immediate environment and on my relationships with landscape and within family.

    My practice operates at the intersection of Neo-Expressionism and Pop art, fusing raw street art aesthetics with supernatural iconography and the historic subversion of Polari slang. This multidisciplinary visual vocabulary serves a singular purpose: to document the contemporary queer narrative across its triumphs, systemic setbacks, and the friction of daily existence.

    Graduating in 1987 from Maidstone College of Art, with a Fine Arts BA (hons) degree I entered the world of teaching after gaining a PGCE at Bretton hall. My role as art teacher rapidly developed to head of department, head of faculty, to becoming an AST, and deputy head at a SEND School, Recently I was a teacher of nurture after 2 years of art, photography, teaching before retiring in Dec 2024
