    Annie James is a Yorkshire-born artist based in the North East of England, currently studying BA (Hons) Artist Designer Maker: Glass and Ceramics at the University of Sunderland.     Living in North East England, I have been painting and printmaking for over 60 years. My main focus in recent years is landscape painting in oils, where I am interested in atmosphere. Sometimes painting en plein air, plants and gardens are another source of inspiration.

    I work with women, acrylics, stories, photographs and words because I want to free myself, empower and energize women and celebrate feminine energy. By doing so I give the power back to women. I want people who experience my work to feel empowered, inspired, free and open to possibilities.

    Josh's work is strongly influenced by his lived experiences, coming from a working class canal gypsy background, living with dyslexia and depression and being a gay man. His work often looks at everyday life from a 'different' point of view and creates work that is dramatic, absurd and arresting. He is based on the Isle of Wight and exhibits across the south and London.

    Since my training at Edinburgh College of Art I have been inspired by nature. My mission explores the emotional symbolism of my subject matter and seeks to distil the image to enhance this. I am a slow meditative painter. This process puts me in touch with the healing spirit I inherited from the medics in my family. I want to help people find an inner sense of peace and connection with nature.
