    I am a painter of ideas and passions, sourced from the landscapes around us and the mindscapes they evoke is me. With my science background, I try to blend the stories of how and why things are, with my desire to express these wonders in colour and form.     Having studied Fine Art at Reading University my passion to share my love for sculpture and ceramics led me to later graduate from Edge Hill University as a teacher of art and design. After 13 years teaching sculpture, ceramics, and fine art to pre-degree students, sharing my time between artist and educator, I now work as a full-time ceramic artist in my garden studio in West Lancashire.

    I come from a family of painters and studied Fine Art at 'A' Level. I have been painting landscapes regularly since 2013 and, having retired from a career in nursing in 2015, am now a full time artist, painting and drawing and have studied portraiture under Andres Jaroslavsky and Luke Thompson. I also hold classes in portraiture (both drawing and painting) and landscape painting around Leeds.

    I am a multidisciplinary maker and printmaker creating a personal field record of the landscape. Influenced by old herbals and the graphic language of historical woodcuts, my work captures the wild things of liminal spaces. I merge foraged inspiration with disciplined craft to create leaf-printed leather journals, botanical relief prints, and sculptural accordion artist books.

    Matt Hooper is a self-taught professional linocut printmaker, working from his studio in Leeds. He makes linocut prints following both the traditional Japanese Woodblock style and more contemporary linocut methods, a reflection of his passions for both subjects. After 30 years in a Leeds print factory, Matt left with the goal of making every piece of paper into something beautiful.
