Between the years of 2015 and 2018, I have exhibited as part of various group, solo and community exhibitions across the UK and in Catalonia and Greece. I was a featured artist in the May and June 2017 editions of the Average Arts magazine, and was shortlisted for the CROOME Development and research award in 2018.

Report this?M.Kala was born and raised in Congo, then moved to France where she studied French literature specialising in African narratives at Sorbonne University. She observed similar bonds in craft, as she became increasingly interested in the African art. With jewellery, she realised that she can choose materials according to a space and story-line. She studied fine jewellery at City Lit part-time.

Since 2019, as artistic director and curator, I have been helping to develop Guggleton Farm Arts, in Dorset, and painting in my studio on site. In 2020 I formed Guggleton Farm Arts CIC, which is a Social Enterprise Company, whose focus is to encourage inclusion and experimentation in the creative arts.

My work is often autobiographical, exploring themes of loss, anxiety and gender identity. In 2021 I began an ongoing photography project titled ‘AM I ME YET?’, this documents my transition through intimate self-portraits.

I visualize a myriad of seen and unseen paths, and imprints, made by many walkers, animals, and plants as forces that connect us.
