    Yewbowart (Yvonne Cavens) is a Scottish artist born in Dumfries in 1972. A self-taught creative from a young age, she began drawing horses in oil paints and pastels as a child, developing a deep, intuitive connection with visual storytelling. Her work now blends abstract realism with a touch of whimsy, often inspired by the landscapes, heritage, and spirit of Scotland.

    I am an award winning cross-media artist and filmmaker, having exhibited internationally and worked collaboratively to deliver works that interrogate the role and impact of digital media practice. I have over 20yrs experience of devising and delivering participatory projects.     My art is a way for me to understand life. It's my form of graphic research. I take complicated stories and events and break them down into simple details. This makes it easier for me to understand new places or experiences by drawing them and observing their unique features, patterns, and details.

    An artist/sculptor working mainly with biological tissues such as leather and hair, recently I have been using recycled leather primarily, creating realistic copies of inorganic materials, generic consumer goods, or of peripheral environments and events taking place on the margins of culture and the edge of the urban landscape.
