Rups Cregeen's work is concerned with coastal geography: tides, sea states and weather. References to triangular shapes represent Aristotle’s elements: Earth, Wind, Water and Fire. A yearning for exploration and adventure reflects in references to navigation, routes, navigational marks, compass points, bearings and vectors.

I am an artist who’s work only exists through acts of collaboration with the public. I am currently struggling to maintain a sense of coherence between being a gay man who loves men and masculinity, but who wants to challenge the ‘toxic’ masculinity that is so damaging to women and men.

I graduated from Camberwell College of Arts in 2015 and I investigate the corporeal and abstraction of the human form, mainly with paint. I explore Julia Kristeva’s writings on the abject, confronting our shared mortality and our bodies being pure matter. This year I had a solo show at Wigan S.T.E.A.M, got to round two of the Aesthetica Art Prize and was shortlisted for the BEEP Painting Prize.

I am a multi-media artist, illustrator and writer. My work is often populated with a host of creatures, visions, beings and protectors that enter this world through my hands. I am influenced by connection the natural, the imaginal, the spiritual and the supernatural worlds. I call myself an 'environmental surrealist.' I am an expatriate American, living in the UK for nearly 20 years.

    Report this?

Poppy Boys-Stones uses objects as substitutes for the human body. In doing so, the objects take on new identities – ones of symbolism, metaphor and innuendo. Her living sculptures thus become embodiments of phallic imagery laced with depictions of sex, menstruation and the human form.
