    Katherine James is a Leeds based contemporary artist and jewellery maker. She is best known for her unique re-imaginings of armour, made by crafting chainmail into many different forms and materials to alter its symbolic values. Her chainmail works have varied from lace patterns to semi-melted to chaotic disorder. Lately her practice has explored the relationship between charcoal and silver.

    An artist and psychologist, I explore the human experience from my academic activities. I illustrate psychological phenomena, theories and concept in light of the current social context and of our future. As a result, my visual language presents itself in iconic, timeless and geometric forms. Science and art converge into a visual artform of heightened aesthetic sense and vivid compositions.

    Since completing my Photography MA (Falmouth) in autumn 2019, I have been establishing myself as a visual artist with photography at the core of my work.     I am a photographer from a Fine Art background. My career has been in Advertising producing work for Ad Agencies and design companies. However throughout that time I have always balanced the commissioned work with my own personal practice which ranges from Landscape, Industrial and still life work. I am now retired from the commercial arena so I can now concentrate on my personal work.
