    Rhiannon Kendall is a Contemporary Artist and Poet, Prison Teacher and Freelance Art Workshop Facilitator who lives and works in York, North Yorkshire, UK (b. 1996). Drawing, Painting, Poetry and Spoken word are all central to the Artist's practice. Rhiannon's work is often inspired by her experiences of being a queer woman from a working class council estate and mining village background.

    I am a multi-disciplinary artist, with 15 years of experience of socially engaged art / social practices projects. My work is informed by my Ph.D. thesis, activism and personal experience as a mix race person and migrant. Much of my work concentrates on themes of place and belonging, identify and social justice using photography, digital art and installations.

    I am an artist currently exploring print making, mainly relief printing with linoleum. The dining room in my little Lincolnshire cottage doubles as my studio. I have always been interested in the medium but had only dabbled in it in the past. However, in 2020 I had the opportunity to explore and experiment uninterrupted. My printmaking practice has now extended to other forms of printmaking.

    I am a painter who is interested in people, places, objects and groups in society. My role as a teacher informs my work and I often respond to my immediate environment. Painting offers a special opportunity to combine imagery, technique and art historical references to tell stories and suggest ideas.     The multi-layered intricate collaged artworks and paintings of Bristol based Clare are truly individual and thrive on personality, with sometimes cheeky mixtures of imagery and texture.     My artistic practice is a response to architecture and the natural environment and reflects on particular sites in the context of poetry and literature. Alternative approaches to mapping is the crux of my research, I juxtapose and transform words, signs, symbols and texts into installations, artist’s books, prints and drawings.
