    I am a multimedia 3D artist, specialising in ceramics. My work is responsive – responding to ideas, events or collections of objects. My work develops from this initial response, considering how this can be represented in a contemporary way within the context of my material practice.     Ashley Cundall is a Manchester based British contemporary artist best known for expressive urban and architectural paintings, particularly of UK cityscapes and coastal towns. He works mainly in acrylic, mixed media, and watercolour, often combining loose washes with bold line work, using Impressionistic and Expressionistic elements.

    I am interested in exploring photography as ‘Inframedium’, playing with the boundaries of the photographic object, its material ‘nature’ and the visual possibilities that exist within it. Stripping away the ‘Apparatus’ of the camera and thus stepping out of the arena of the technical image, I am exploring a different set of gestures with which to reveal the material’s phenomenological potential.

    My work is a reflection of the scars left on me from the horrors of my past. Though my emotions are constantly evolving, an undercurrent of suffering persists. The pain I’ll always remember. I strive to create art that captures the complexities within my subconscious. Raw, unadulterated, free. Language fails to have the words to express my innermost feelings, but on a canvas I am free.
