I'm a self-taught disabled artist from Shrewsbury Shropshire. I'm driven to paint by the act of painting itself and the environment around me. My work is abstract/semi-abstract it comes from the feelings that I get from places I visit, mainly my love of the countryside and the coast is the driving force. My practice can vary from en Plein air to straight to the canvas.

I am a painter based in Leeds. I use memories of places from my past to create compositions of assumed colour, line and form. We exist in the present. The past is a story. Nobody recalls the same version of events. How can we be sure of our own version? Our past emotions and actions are how we determine ourselves. If we are not sure of these factors then how can we have a secure sense of self?

I have painted since I was ten years old, throughout my career in fashion design and later interior design. I use everyday scenes as well as those from travelling, and am inspired by nature and the seasons, with the variation in moods and colours they bring. I started painting in oils and in the last few years have developed a passion for soft pastels.

Catherine has a first class degree in Photography from the University of Westminster. Disillusioned with Photoshop and filters, she began to work with the cyanotype photogram. An historic process, using iron salts, light and water, the cyanotype is an environmentally friendly printing method. Botanical specimens are collected from local spaces, seeds are returned: each print treads lightly.
