    I'm a fine artist and illustrator. I have taken part in events and exhibitions, I have taught at various times over the years.     For over twenty years, my practice as a community artist has centred on participation, storytelling, and collective making. Recently, through Arts Council England’s Developing Your Creative Practice fund, I have refocused on my personal creative work - exploring the intersection between Chinese and European folklore, inherited craft traditions, and the shifting nature of cultural identity.

    My practice is muti-disciplinary but a unifying starting point for most of my work is print or collage. I am an artist and educator interested in the social applications of art. I like to create work that is playful and invites interaction in some way. Ritual, play, wonder, performance, perceptions of reality and imagined narratives are all important themes within my practice.

    I have degrees in environmental science and fine art and an MA in fine art, and won a scholarship in philosophy (International Society for philosophers). I have exhibited and performed internationally - drawings, artists books and vocalisations.

    I work across and between object making, performance to camera, video, book works, actions and more. Work often hops between media and processes as it develops. Much of the screen based and online work hints at a longing for the physical and for touch. Other themes include cultural ignorance and ways we are positioned by power relationships (as exemplified by language or objects).

    Informed by a fascination with the human/dog relationship and a lifelong love of drawing, I work mostly in colour pencil with a portfolio consisting of over 200 pet portrait commissions alongside project work exploring the dog's role in society.

    I am a teacher of Geography and until a few years ago I never thought I had a creative bone in my body. I then discovered wood turning and the joy of shaping wood as if it was clay. I have rapidly moved away from traditional wood turning and like to use a variety of non-traditional wood and different materials that enhance the wood. I like form and shape inspired by nature.
