    I am an artist predominately concerned with post war architecture, it's inherent ideology, aesthetics, structural forms and the effects it has upon its inhabitants. I explore these themes in sculpture, photography, painting, installation and print in order to broaden and investigate related ideas.

    I am a graduate professional artist with BA Fine Art First Class Honours 2006. I'm inspired by the landscape and create work that abstracts what I see and experience. Often working en plein air I create dynamic & colourful compositions. I'm inspired by abstract expressionism with rapid expressive mark making & striking colours of Fauvism. I have a strong exhibition catalogue over 20 shows in 2025.

    I work across and between object making, performance to camera, video, book works, actions and more. Work often hops between media and processes as it develops. Much of the screen based and online work hints at a longing for the physical and for touch. Other themes include cultural ignorance and ways we are positioned by power relationships (as exemplified by language or objects).

    In 2016 I made a commitment to focus on my own practice and fulfill a career long ambition to specialise in ceramics. I completed an MA in Ceramics: Design at Manchester School of Art last year.     Hi My name is Tony Cooney i’m based in Stockton on Tees. I’m a self taught artist and work predominantly in Oul Pastels on paper. I also like to use recycled cardboard such as old Amazon envelopes and the outer hardbacks of artist pads. I also work in charcoal and oil/acrylics.

    I worked for over 30 years as a qualified nurse, in many varied settings. I embarked on a Fine Arts Degree to fulfill a long held ambition. My practice revolves around experimenting with materials such as textiles, ceramic , plaster and glass. My interest is in giving expression to social history and creating installations.
