I graduated from Camberwell College of Arts in 2015 and I investigate the corporeal and abstraction of the human form, mainly with paint. I explore Julia Kristeva’s writings on the abject, confronting our shared mortality and our bodies being pure matter. This year I had a solo show at Wigan S.T.E.A.M, got to round two of the Aesthetica Art Prize and was shortlisted for the BEEP Painting Prize.

Julia Clarke creates sculptures for indoor and outdoor spaces. She works with willow, both dried and living, with wire, steel, paper, and ceramic. She states that her work comes from a place of having to make, "I’ve always needed to make…be tactile, touch, play and create in 3D. I’ve tried to communicate what I need to say, even if I’m not always sure where that is coming from."

Through my practice I intend on capturing the essence of creation through drawing experiments. My work consists of loose lines that exist by letting my pen take a path controlled by randomness. I try to let the lines flow through me rather than attempting to control them, which creates designs that could be infinitely different.
