    I graduated from the Royal college of Art 2001. As an artist I am interested in the fugitive relationship between the sublime, the abject, and contemporary perceptions of beauty. I am interested in exploring form and material structure to expand the boundaries, physical presence , and significance of painting, and in this context its potency as a vehicle for metaphor and ideas.

    A mixed media artist; I create with acrylic paint, collage and printing techniques to produce paintings and monotypes. I play with different methods with the aim of making the accidental intentional.     Yewbowart (Yvonne Cavens) is a Scottish artist born in Dumfries in 1972. A self-taught creative from a young age, she began drawing horses in oil paints and pastels as a child, developing a deep, intuitive connection with visual storytelling. Her work now blends abstract realism with a touch of whimsy, often inspired by the landscapes, heritage, and spirit of Scotland.
