    Neurodivergent visual artist exploring embodied experience through drawing, painting and mixed media. My work draws on my background as a former elite gymnast and responds to movement, sensation and mental imagery emerging through EMDR therapy. Projects include ‘ProPriOception’ (Arts Council England - DYCP) and ‘Exploring Embodied Experience’, supported by a CuratorSpace Artist Bursary.

    Yimou Huang’s practice-based PhD from Dundee University explores the divergent influences of Chinese Taoism and Western Eco-Feminist thought on contemporary global art. It centers on the material aspects of dynamic forces, such as gravity, wind, and erosion. Demi's artwork is fuelled by these contrasting environments, her work is primarily climate focused, forming both abstract landscape and animal paintings using mixed media.     I am a multidisciplinary artist working across sculpture, digital media, video and print. Her practice explores feminist themes, domestic labour and materiality. She reimagines household tools as metaphors for resilience and ritual. Trained in hospitality before studying silversmithing and Fine Art, she completed BA and MA degrees at Central Saint Martins (2021) and is now undertaking a Prof Doc.

    My practice crosses performance, sculpture and moving image, inhabiting a flickering state between rational and non-rational realities, to create powerful mash-ups, hybrid half-truths, not-quite-lies. My work is in the Saatchi Collection and was exhibited in ‘Known Unknowns’ at Saatchi Gallery throughout 2018. I have performed at the Tate Modern and at performance festivals in UK and abroad.
