I’m currently exploring the connection between the sun, Antarctica, and human activity over the austral summer season. I describe myself as an environmental artist. I’m interested in the interrelationships between people, places, culture and nature. In 2017, I moved from the UK to New Zealand to study for a PhD exploring 'the value of artists working in Antarctica'.

Robyn Woolston is a visual artist who works across installation, photography, moving image and print. From socially engaged practice to site-specific responses her work seeks to harvest, uncover and re-appropriate what is 'left behind' from archetypal narratives to manufacturing by-products.

As a sculptor/installation artist, I weld, weave, wrap or ravel steel wire into most of my work. Routes, boundaries and voids created help me understand connections and liminality. The wire is manipulated into weightless ethereal structures, barely visible yet imposing. With the involvement of my body and the inclusion of light, space, movement and sound, uncanny immersive environments emerge.

Blood is interested in abstract expressionism and paradox, which can become apparent to viewers within the themes of her work: light/dark, conscious/sub-conscious, peace/chaos. She uses print making in a painterly way and makes large scale installations. Blood also works with children on projects such as 'Cheese Dreams', 'Fluxus Club' and has exhibited this nationally.

Since graduating she has been glaze assistant to Aaron Angell and undertaken a glass blowing mentorship at Peter Layton’s Studio. In 2017/8 she was Coventry's AA2A artist.

I'm from the south via the north, and now live in Brighton. People, time and 'things' form the crux of my practice, and I'd describe myself as a multidisciplinary artist with one foot in the conceptual, one foot in the visual, and one foot in the in-between. I'm a drawing tutor at The Art Academy in London and I also work within the whisky industry; a spirit that runs deep within my practice.
