    I am a designer maker working often in ceramics. I see the beauty in the broken, overlooked and discarded. My latest work was using fully fired ceramics that were in the bin and, crushing these up, I put them inside jesmonite sculptures. I want to highlight the moments in our lives where we feel broken, worthless and discarded... in order to remind us we are strong and valuable.

    I am a visual artist based in Hastings and have exhibited, participated in and produced work for artists led projects, residencies and commissions in the UK and Europe. I work with a wide range of materials including installation, sculpture, film and photography and my practice is focused on an exploration of the relationship between our senses, architecture and space.

    After a successful and fulfilling career spanning nearly 2 decades as an Art Teacher, I left the profession in 2018 to become a freelance visual arts facilitator . I have worked with numerous establishments throughout the North-West delivering workshops to all age groups and ability levels.     Catherine has a first class degree in Photography from the University of Westminster. Disillusioned with Photoshop and filters, she began to work with the cyanotype photogram. An historic process, using iron salts, light and water, the cyanotype is an environmentally friendly printing method. Botanical specimens are collected from local spaces, seeds are returned: each print treads lightly.

    As a studio-based painter I rely on photographic images. These are often those found on social media or then internet. As a gay man I am also interested in exploring the multiplicity of images and ideals we are presented with and redefining the idea of masculinity. My work explores narrative, colour, line, composition, and mark-making to evoke an emotion or develop the narrative within an image.

    I am a multimedia 3D artist, specialising in ceramics. My work is responsive – responding to ideas, events or collections of objects. My work develops from this initial response, considering how this can be represented in a contemporary way within the context of my material practice. I am inspired by objects and work that can evoke a response and curiosity in the viewer.
