    I am by definition an abstract artist who mainly specialises in painting. I use acrylic paint and mixed media to create my artworks, typically on large abandoned photographs, paper or canvas. The general theme behind my work is rooted in environmental issues and explores the contrasts between a natural existence and a synthetic environment that many of us find ourselves living in.

    Claire Mc Dermott is a working-class artist whose research combines art, biophysics and the humanities through social and environmental issues, while her multidisciplinary skills created sculpture, photography, drawing, print and poems by making connections between plants, glass and air. As an environmentalist, she envisions a planet that shares and represents all cultures.

    Having recently completed a foundation degree in textiles practice at Bradford School of Art, I am now embarking on a new chapter as a textile artist. In my previous life, I was a specialist speech and language therapist, and also an aromatherapist, and I continue to take the same multi sensory approach to my art work, as I did in my previous roles.

    I use digital media to create surreal images from photographs using clouds, eyes and dandelions to produce striking images that can be both strong and fragile. I am a multi-disciplinary artist with a background in graphics, fashion design and portraiture.

    I am a Yorkshire lass from Barnsley. I recently graduated from Hull with a fine art degree. I have immersed myself in creativity to cope with a long term illness fibromyalgia. Using open water swimming and the combination of a fibre arts based creative practice has seen i through difficult times.

    My work anchors me to reality, a lens of visual translation that enables me to attempt to understand human thought and behaviour at a deeper level. The unreality of day to day existence is relentless, a maze of whirring dualities and circus mirrors, through paint I tune in to the collective consciousness and become a translator for the seen but not heard.

    Since my training at Edinburgh College of Art I have been inspired by nature. My mission explores the emotional symbolism of my subject matter and seeks to distil the image to enhance this. I am a slow meditative painter. This process puts me in touch with the healing spirit I inherited from the medics in my family.     Neurodivergent visual artist exploring embodied experience through drawing, painting and mixed media. My work draws on my background as a former elite gymnast and responds to movement, sensation and mental imagery emerging through EMDR therapy. Projects include ‘ProPriOception’ (Arts Council England - DYCP) and ‘Exploring Embodied Experience’, supported by a CuratorSpace Artist Bursary.

    I am an artist based in Cumbria, originally from South Yorkshire. My main focus within my art practice is to create sculptural artworks by recreating and repurposing items and materials that I collect, source and find. I also explore the use of other materials (such as wire, etc), other art practices (such as ink drawings, etc) and the making of decorative goods.
