Currently working in Bristol, Jess grew up in Cornwall and its elemental nature seeps through into her work. The sea comforts, it is a safe place, and it is used as subject, object and memory. Jess graduated from the University of Plymouth with a BA (hons) in Fine Art and combines this training with skills handed down by previous generations.

(b.1990, Rho) I hold a MA in Performance (Contemporary Art Practice) from the Royal College of Art, London. Through my practice, I question the structures that influence the development of identity and sexuality. Combining and confounding performance, sculpture and painting, I create environments which foster critical thinking and encourage personal and collective transformation.

I make what scares me AND WHAT BRINGS ME HOPE………My work is an exploration of power, violence and inequality in society, but also a search for hope, certainty and connection. The disciplines I employ are as varied as the materials I use.

I work with photography, video installation, sound installation and programming. My work is focused on a long process of research which invite us to subtract ourselves from our conditioning. I talk about the conditions of our current society through portraits of human beings and the actual nature which surrounds them.

I'm a Brighton based socially engaged artist addressing social and political issues. I explore the means by which simple artistic activities can be catalysts for progressive change. I involve members of the public in immersive projects, which examine the power of words to shape perception.

My practice confronts the increasingly unstable device of the image and its impact on delivering a coherent understanding of our global condition. My work takes the form of a video installation to address the physical and virtual position that the image ambiguously navigates. Alongside my practice, I am also part of Dank Collective- a collective exploring performance, video, and online platforms.

I am an artivist working in many media, but my ideas always circulate around protest, apocalyptic possibilities, climate change and utopia. I often take an anarchic view to traditional spaces and prefer public interventions, breaking through the norm and sparking energy for change. I have a degree in Fine Art and Art History from Manchester School of Art and am now based in London.
