    Rachel Anderson is a textile artist and designer working from East Yorkshire. Primarily specialising in freemotion machine embroidery, Rachel also works with fabric design, mark making and other textile techniques. Her textile works often combine structure and fluidity, designing fabrics based on hand marbled prints which juxtapose the rigidity of the drawn elements that sit on the surface.

    I am a graduate professional artist with BA Fine Art First Class Honours 2006. I'm inspired by the landscape and create work that abstracts what I see and experience.     I have a passion for watercolour, pastel of wildlife botanical animal and more recently jewellery making . Over 10 years ago I was medically retired from the NHS with a Neurological condition so I picked up a pencil and started from there and have never stopped. I have done a few craft fairs in North Yorkshire where I'm from . I have now moved to Surrey are and I want to continue here with fairs.

    I am a painter that is interested in emotional memory and the part played through dance and music . I also work with abstract themes usually in mixed media . I exhibit and sell my work predominantly at soul festivals throughout the UK. I worked initially as a fashion designer for high street brands then in my early 30 s worked in education as a Head of Faculty for Visual and Performing Arts .
