    As a studio-based painter I rely on photographic images. These are often those found on social media or then internet. As a gay man I am also interested in exploring the multiplicity of images and ideals we are presented with and redefining the idea of masculinity. My work explores narrative, colour, line, composition, and mark-making to evoke an emotion or develop the narrative within an image.

    I have been raising money for Cancer Research UK via Relay for Life since 2010 with our team #quiltofhopecornwall for my 60th birthday I was gifted a Polymer Clay course plus a fabulous kit. I am constantly build my skills, repertoire and kit to create hand crafted items for fundraising.

    Milena Makani is a German abstract painter based in London, living with Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome.
