    I am a multi-disciplinary artist, with 15 years of experience of socially engaged art / social practices projects. My work is informed by my Ph.D. thesis, activism and personal experience as a mix race person and migrant. Much of my work concentrates on themes of place and belonging, identify and social justice using photography, digital art and installations.

    I'm a new graduate of Fine Art working in pen and ink and I love to capture the little details of the world around me in Yorkshire. I've come to art after a career in archaeology, where observing and drawing the small details was an essential part of my role. These technical archaeological drawings form the foundation of my practice, inspiring me to look at the fine details around me.

    I am a designer maker working often in ceramics. I see the beauty in the broken, overlooked and discarded. My latest work was using fully fired ceramics that were in the bin and, crushing these up, I put them inside jesmonite sculptures. I want to highlight the moments in our lives where we feel broken, worthless and discarded... in order to remind us we are strong and valuable.

    Born 1957 and raised by artist parents, I've been immersed in creativity all my life. I completed an AA in art before emigrating to London, settling, working as a professional seamstress, and having 2 boys 18 years apart (1983, 2001). Acquired a BA in Interior Architecture in 2000. My art and craft has emerged and evolved in various forms and waves across the 40+ years I've lived here.

    I have been painting and exhibiting since 1998 and spent 12 years in Vietnam where I owned a gallery. I am so happy to be back in my native Yorkshire. My recent watercolour and acrylic works concern themes such as Origins, Belonging and the Joy of Life. I believe in the honesty of art and follow where my inspirations lead me.     Sara-Louise Dobson is a multidisciplinary artist currently studying an MA at Central Saint Martins. Awarded Fellowship of the Royal Society of Arts in 2018, Sara now divides her time between private commissions and community projects. Her art practice is reflective of the current political climate, focusing on diversity whilst using experimental techniques.
