    I have a BA (HONS) in Applied Arts and have run my creative business Rustydusty since 2008. I am predominately a textiler and work in various textile disciplines. I have come back to my line and watercolour art after recently being accepted in the Lanzarote Art Festival. The experience of going over to Lanzarote to deliver workshops inspired me to use colour and develop my line work.

    I grew up in the ancient port of Whitby, in northern England which sits between the North Yorkshire Moors and the North Sea. This dramatic environment has influenced my art as much as my multi-ethnic ancestry and popular culture. As do the conflicts within our existence: light and dark; life and death; imprisonment and freedom; censorship and expression.

    Franky Blues is a self-taught multidisciplinary artist born and raised in Portugal but currently residing in North Yorkshire, England. Franky's works aim to explore the innermost self and its place in contemporary society.     I'm a ceramic sculptor who loves clay. The infinite possibilities of clay as a medium appeals to my need to constantly evolve my work as well as my love of learning and challenging myself. I love trying new techniques and pushing the boundaries with much of my work now single fired. Teaching adds another layer to that as I run a membership, classes and workshops from my Cambridgeshire studio.

    I am currently producing work that is a a combination of paintings and mixed media relief pieces that combine embroidery, paper clay, precious metal clay, paper, watercolour, ink and found objects. Each piece is accompanied with a poem about and as a response to the physical work. I also work as a development librarian.
