    I am a neurodivergent artist making art about living with neurodiversity through ceramics, drawing, painting, printmaking, installation and sculpting. I was born with autism, am dyslexic, have a high IQ, went through an event aged 17 and then another linked event aged 18 that left me with PTSD and that caused developmental issues in my brain leading to the symptoms of ADHD now being prevalent.

    Sadly, my real name isn't Using Glue, that's a trade name sort of thing to reflect the fact that I use a lot of glue in my work. My real name is Shane O'Leary. In previous incarnations I have dug ditches, marketed pornography and written increasingly deranged reviews of increasingly bland records before finally growing up and becoming an artist.     I am a painter who has moved into three dimensions. My painting is very classical in technique, using glazes to achieve tones and contrasts. The work is abstract in concept but in retrospect I find it grows out of my immediate and long term visual experiences.

    I qualified with a BA in Fine Art in 1982 and after a career in FE and HE I retired early in 2018. I make paintings and sculpture based on real and remembered landscapes presented together to suggest non-linear narratives. In 2004 I took timeout to study an MA in Creative Technology working with 3d modelling and real/virtual environments reflecting the superimposition of memory over place.

    Believe it or not I first used drawings to impress my father so from childhood it has been my go to place when depressed and also done out of joy being a disabled artist I like to use my talent to express feelings and emotions situations in life

    Father, husband, artist teacher. I love learning and my practice is simply that - I enjoy the craft of making - be it 2 or 3 dimensional, and I simply couldn’t teach if I wasn’t creating.
