    I’m a UK artist based in Leeds and I’ve taken part in open call exhibitions across the UK (Art of music, King street gallery, Lancaster winner of special selection). Recently I had a solo exhibition at the ORBS walls, Leeds. My work is predominantly oil painting on canvas and wooden board.

    I discovered sculpture in 2024 and create expressive animal forms, often focusing on endangered species. My work explores fragility, protection and hope, using storytelling in clay to raise awareness and turn survival into purpose.

    Yewbowart (Yvonne Cavens) is a Scottish artist based in Kelso. Working exclusively in A5 sketchbooks, her practice is private, sustainable, and process-led.     I started out in art creating pencil pet portraits for friends and family. When these proved popular, I branched out and began experimenting with a variety of media, and a variety of subjects. I am always learning, and thoroughly enjoying the process. I decided to take the plunge and set up a website for my art earlier in 2025.

    I resumed making sculpture in 2014 and have since shown sculpture, audio visual pieces and drawing. I am interested in the experiences of new, older artists returning or starting to make art that takes into account contemporary practices. I make constructions that are material and tangible and whose component forms often have a direct relation to the features of the gallery or site.

    My practice centres on ceramics. Clay is mineral, elemental and millions of years old. A humbling material - it has a memory, just like us. I am inspired by the chaos of oxides, the magic of a kiln opening and leaning into the unknown.

    I trained and worked as a primary teacher early on in my career, before motherhood took over and I took time to raise my family. I returned to work as a teaching assistant and supply teacher part time, before I took the plunge and embarked on an access course in art and design. I haven't looked back since, gaining a BA, followed by an MA in Fine Art, and I am at present continuing my research.
