I am an artist maker creating contemporary art jewellery alongside photography. My work references the textile heritage of Calderdale, Yorkshire where I live and work, exploring the lived experience of mill workers whilst detailing the demise of the woollen mills. I am concerned with issues of loss and renewal, questioning what is transient and what endures in this changing landscape.

I draw and paint with machine thread onto mostly furnishing fabrics using animals as my inspiration. I love textures and layers and although you can achieve this with paint, stitch can really encourage the viewer to speculate on how the work was achieved. I live in Brighton, East Sussex and teach Art and Textiles at a local Secondary School.
