    As a naturalist, Mc Dermott's research-based practice observes plant morphology to understand their design, function and mechanism, and how they interact with our atmosphere. Her transdisciplinary expressions explore art, science, and the humanities through social and environmental issues, while her multidisciplinary skills create sculpture, macro photography, drawing, print, and poems.

    I am a printmaker and artist and I work from my attic studio in West Yorkshire. My prints are influenced by my love of being immersed in nature and my belief that everyone has a right to be wrapped in the natural world. They are also influenced by my love of arts that explore folklores, especially those relating to the changing seasons.

    During total isolation, in lockdown, I painted over a 154 artworks up to date. I also took up meditation which allowed my imagination to flow again. It was cathartic and eased the trauma from what was happening in the outside world. Life is returning back to what was before, but with a greater sense of appreciating family and friends, united.
