    I am an artist and designer living and working in York, UK. I grew up on the edge of Dartmoor and studied fine art, illustration and graphic design in Exeter and York. My paintings and drawings explore wild natural landscapes through instinctive and expressive mark-making and enquiry into colour, and have been exhibited in England and Wales.

    I grew up in the ancient port of Whitby, in northern England which sits between the North Yorkshire Moors and the North Sea. This dramatic environment has influenced my art as much as my multi-ethnic ancestry and popular culture. As do the conflicts within our existence: light and dark; life and death; imprisonment and freedom; censorship and expression.

    My art is about bringing imagination to life through abstract and semi-abstract pieces. I work mainly with mixed media, using acrylic paint and inks, building up layers of paint, texture, and intuitive markings.     I am a mosaic artist living in Cumbria. I have being making mosaics for a few years and am a former illustrator and mural painter. I make wildlife portraits out of rocks and found materials. I forage slate, quartz, found ceramics, fossils from places I visit and choose subjects that interest or inspire me. My style is representational and I choose materials to give my mosaics texture and movement
