    I am a bookbinder and work from my garden studio in Leeds. I love making notebooks using traditional bookbinding methods. Each one is unique and made with good quality cartridge paper and sewn together with linen thread. I have recently started making my own designs for the covers using watercolours, wooden block prints. I also make cyanotype prints using pressed leaves and flowers.

    I am by definition an abstract artist who mainly specialises in painting. I use acrylic paint and mixed media to create my artworks, typically on large abandoned photographs, paper or canvas. The general theme behind my work is rooted in environmental issues and explores the contrasts between a natural existence and a synthetic environment that many of us find ourselves living in.

    Having recently completed a foundation degree in textiles practice at Bradford School of Art, I am now embarking on a new chapter as a textile artist. In my previous life, I was a specialist speech and language therapist, and also an aromatherapist, and I continue to take the same multi sensory approach to my art work, as I did in my previous roles.

    I use digital media to create surreal images from photographs using clouds, eyes and dandelions to produce striking images that can be both strong and fragile. I am a multi-disciplinary artist with a background in graphics, fashion design and portraiture.

    I am a Yorkshire lass from Barnsley. I recently graduated from Hull with a fine art degree. I have immersed myself in creativity to cope with a long term illness fibromyalgia.     My work anchors me to reality, a lens of visual translation that enables me to attempt to understand human thought and behaviour at a deeper level. The unreality of day to day existence is relentless, a maze of whirring dualities and circus mirrors, through paint I tune in to the collective consciousness and become a translator for the seen but not heard.

    Since my training at Edinburgh College of Art I have been inspired by nature. My mission explores the emotional symbolism of my subject matter and seeks to distil the image to enhance this. I am a slow meditative painter. This process puts me in touch with the healing spirit I inherited from the medics in my family. I want to help people find an inner sense of peace and connection with nature.
