    The first time I touched clay, it was a peaceful and comforting experience. There is nothing more grounding than working by hand with raw materials and watching as it slowly transforms into a piece of work. This started by accident. As someone who has ADHD, it’s incredibly difficult to be still, and I feel the need to constantly be doing something with my hands.

    Dr. Ruth Jones is an artist, independent curator and director of artist charity and studios The Old Waterworks in Southend-on-Sea. In 2023 Jones graduated from UEL with a professional doctorate in Fine Art. In 2022 she was awarded a British Council Venice Fellowship at the Venice Biennale, a residency with Metal Southend and commissioned for a new sound piece by Focal Point Gallery in 2021.

    I am a designer maker working often in ceramics. I see the beauty in the broken, overlooked and discarded. My latest work was using fully fired ceramics that were in the bin and, crushing these up, I put them inside jesmonite sculptures. I want to highlight the moments in our lives where we feel broken, worthless and discarded... in order to remind us we are strong and valuable.

    Recent graduate of a first class degree in BA (Hons) Fine Art at the Northern School of Art. I enjoy the process of investigating landscape via graphite, paint, photography and collage.     Bikebones has been creating upcycled artifacts, artwork and lighting since 2017. By working with materials that had a previous life and using traditional craftsmanship each piece invites the observer to embrace its natural imperfections.

    Lily Hall (b.2001) graduated with a First Class Honours in Fine Art from Leeds Arts University in 2022 and is currently studying on The Drawing Year 2025 at The Royal Drawing School and working in the heritage sector. Drawn to mysterious and mystical atmospheres, her paintings and drawings encapsulate a sensitivity that is both haunting yet intriguing.
