I'm a British artist working in paper. I studied art in London, initially at the Sir John Cass School of Art, and then at Central Saint Martin’s majoring in sculpture. Largely human-centred and moving between figuration and abstraction, the work explores ideas around the opposites: fragile/robust; surface/subsurface; build/raze; expose/conceal with a deepening focus on current social issues.

I'm a painter, drawing from nature, and seeking the symbiotic relationships and wellbeing that the natural world can bring. My paintings varying in scale, with smaller, more intimate surreal-like painted works forming installations. A process- based and curiosity driven practice, painting with immediacy, and intuition, which is later refined with a more considered aesthetic.

My work attempts to explore the relationship between the material world, the natural world, and our senses, the way and means in which we judge reality. I'm trying to explore how our senses are being potentially diluted through the distribution of goods, the effect of living in densely populated societies and the social pressures created within them.

I am interested in exploring photography as ‘Inframedium’, playing with the boundaries of the photographic object, its material ‘nature’ and the visual possibilities that exist within it. Stripping away the ‘Apparatus’ of the camera and thus stepping out of the arena of the technical image, I am exploring a different set of gestures with which to reveal the material’s phenomenological potential.
