    Jo creates abstract sea/colour-scapes focusing on horizons, using gold, silver, copper metal-leaf, oil-paint, playing with rust and verdigris on plaster and wooden panels. Her work is inspired by extensive travel - sailing in her twenties delivering yachts, and her childhood years living in Australia. 20x20cm to 120x120cm.

    Ruth Bateman’s paintings are a conflation of an internal and external landscape. Ruth has been striving to be heard. As someone who is neurodivergent, she has felt like an outsider for much of her life. Painting is an expression and celebration of her difference. It is a refusal to be contained or silenced.

    I have loved art since I was little and I can say that this is my way of expressing myself. For this reason my school choice naturally went towards art. I graduated in painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Rome and from there I have never stopped producing paintings and drawings, so I can say that my artistic path has changed in parallel with my life path.

    I'm a self taught artist based in Cambridgeshire, whose work began in 2021. The art I create explores the ubiquity of emotional connection and loss, drawing upon imagery from the natural world and symbolistic objects - at times channelling these through lenses of human spirituality and magical realism.

    I am a young LGBTQIA+ artist based in the North East of England, currently studying Fine Art (BA Hons) at Teesside University. I grew up in a low income, single parent household, moving from council estate to council estate. This setting and the people in it fuel my art and gave me the drive to be the best I can be.
