    I am a Brighton-based artist with an interest in semiotics, producing concept-driven work with a specialism in slip-cast ceramics.     Ex Army Father of two beautiful girls and I work as a HGV driver in the UK. I got into art literally by accident, after a work place accident and recovering at home ,I took up pyrography to take my mind off the recovery. Since then and work permitting I do my art when I can. Only having weekends off from the road I love to dive into a piece for hours on end, the smell and sound is fantastic.

    Since my training at Edinburgh College of Art I have been inspired by nature. My mission explores the emotional symbolism of my subject matter and seeks to distil the image to enhance this. I am a slow meditative painter. This process puts me in touch with the healing spirit I inherited from the medics in my family. I want to help people find an inner sense of peace and connection with nature.

    I am a sculptor whose work investigates identity and the way we portray this in the world through the forms of our clothing and our architecture. Both are seen as metaphors for the body and for human experience. I have been investigating this relationship for 20 years. I work mainly for exhibition or in residency and have a studio in my local town of Stourbridge, in the West Midlands.

    Sal is known for her expressive portraits that capture fleeting emotions rather than fixed likenesses. Working in rich layers of oil paint, she draws on film, media, and her own imagery to create characters who feel both familiar and mysterious. With titles often borrowed from dialogue, her paintings hint at stories without telling them outright, leaving space for the viewer to step in.
