    Sunderland is a painter and drawer living and working in Plymouth, England. His work is constantly referencing the changes in time, light and shadow, and where man-made or natural forms co-exist in the environment. Originally from Leeds, he studied drawing, painting and sculpture at Bradford and Exeter, his work has always had a connection to growing up in the Yorkshire Dales.

    I'm an Artist & Qualified Art Teacher based in Leeds with a master's in Contemporary Fine Arts Practices. My work is inspired by African Art, Rastafarian Culture, and Roots Reggae. I've received the Edna Lumb Travel Scholarship and the Black Achievers Award.     Emma's contemporary oil paintings are a fusion of atmosphere, experiment and memory.     I am a multi-media artist based in Yorkshire working in sculpture, performance, photography, video, printmaking and artist’s books. Much of my work is inspired by and takes place in, the landscape around me. Often I am the only audience for my on-site installations, works translated into artist’s books and digitally printed images, crossing the boundary between documentary and primary artwork.
