    David Watkins is a visual artist whose practice encompasses painting and installation. Based in Southend-on-Sea, Essex, he is a trustee at The Old Waterworks, an artist-run studio and charity.     I was born in 1968 in Bridgend, Wales, where I am currently based. I retired in 2024 after a long and distinguished career as a Registered Nurse and am now focussing on developing my career as an artist having demonstrated a love and talent for art from a very young age.

    I am a Fine Artist. I work mainly in painting and printmaking. My work explores colour and currently I am interested in colour charts. I studied a degree in Fine Art at Winchester School of Art and an MA in Printmaking at Bradford School of Art. I have worked in education for many years, both as a teacher and lecturer in Art and Design. I am currently an associate lecturer at Craven College.
