She has a particular interest in invisible rituals - how we use them in institutional and everyday settings, and how we can playfully reconstruct them to serve us.     Kate studied Fine Art in London, Brighton and Falmouth; currently based at Trewarveneth Studios in Newlyn, Cornwall. From 2000- 2007 Kate trained in classical shamanism, learning about First Nations’ people’s relationships with Nature, totems and invisible worlds.     Designer maker that uses both precious metals and base metals to make jewellery that tells stories. I use my childhood, my teenage years and life itself as inspiration. 80's Japanese art, fashion and music all had an influence on my ideas from the first minute I entered the world of jewellery way back in 1985.

    I trained as a sculptor at Kingston University and Chelsea College of Art, U.A.L. I have taught drawing at the City Lit, at Camberwell College of Art and the University of Hertfordshire and have held residencies at the Drawing Centre at Wimbledon Art College, the Geography Departments of Royal Holloway, University of London, and Exeter University, amongst others.

    Recent graduate of a first class degree in BA (Hons) Fine Art at the Northern School of Art. I enjoy the process of investigating landscape via graphite, paint, photography and collage. I absolutely love being on location with a sketchbook and pencil. I am Interested in the emotional, historical and environmental aspects of the landscape that give my work purpose and warmth.

    For the last few years, I have tried to paint in a way that no other artist paints. I do not see the point of painting in a similar way to other artists. For THE NATURE OF THINGS series, I have found a new way of applying paint to figurative paintings. In the MEMORY AND DESIRE series I paint initially conventionally, but then cover the picture with a monochrome colour.

    I am a painter who has moved into three dimensions. My painting is very classical in technique, using glazes to achieve tones and contrasts. The work is abstract in concept but in retrospect I find it grows out of my immediate and long term visual experiences.

    Coming from a social science background, Emma’s work investigates theories or concepts that seek to question the individual’s role in society, expressing these ideas through visual exploration and collaboration. Her work moves between a variety of mediums: photography, text, sculpture, video and audio, creating multisensory, fully embodied modes of communication.
